Her paternal grandparents were Ranulph De Gernon De Meshines and Maud FITZROBERT; her maternal grandparents were Simon II Le Chauve De Montfort and Maud Countess of Evreux. She had four sisters named Adeliza, Amicia, Mabel and Agnes. She was the second oldest of the five children.
