John served in the American Revolution 1777-1778 in Capt. John Holcombe's Co. 4th Regiment. His father and mother visited him in 1774 and were called home to look after matters because of trouble pending with America. The records just say John had six broghters. John said #Clew Bay, Ireland, has 365 Island one for each day of the year. I set sail from one of them to America in 1763."

The Home of John Cunningham and, wife Catherine Shuman built in 1772, and is in livable condition. Has been occupied for 170 years. During the Indian raids of 1777 it was used as a fort, because it was well consturcted. Mr. Cunningham died in this home in 1799. Located not far from Fairmont, W. VA. near Baxter.
