Caroline Orilla Carlin 
Caroline Orilla was born on May 29th, 1841 in Licking County,Ohio. Caroline Orilla's father was William Carlin and her mother was Lucinda Orilla DeWees. Her paternal grandparents were poss Philip Carlin and Sarah Wilson; her maternal grandparents were Samuel Dewees and Mary (Polly) Dugan. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Alonzo, Samuel, Phillip, Mary Etta and Mariah Margaret. She was the second oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 76 on February 23rd, 1918 in Coal City,Owen County,Indiana.General Notes
Dorothy Powers Elliott talked with a distant cousin who was 103 years old at the time about the Carlin and Bealmear families. On both sides the physique of members there was a tendancy to being just about as wide as they were tall.
Husband of Caroline was a veterinarian. In the early part of their marriage she developed as eye infection. He used some of his "horse" medicine on the eye and as a result she lost the eye. Pictures always show her with a black eye patch.
She was an excellant cook by country standards as were her daughters.
