Cadwgon was born about 1081 in Montgomeryshire,Wales.1   Cadwgon's father was Maredudd Ap Bleddyn and his mother was Hunydd Verch Einudd.  His paternal grandparents were Bleddyn Ap Cynfyn and Haer Verch Cillin; his maternal grandparents were Einudd Ap Morien and Efa Verch Llywelyn. He had two brothers and a sister, named Gruffudd, Hywel and Dyddgu.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died in 1163.1
