William was born about 1675 in Isle Of Wight County, Virginia. William's father was William Mayo and his mother was Isabel Hardy. His paternal grandparents were William Mayo and Jane Unknown; his maternal grandparents were John Hardy and Alice Bennet. He was an only child.
