His paternal grandparents were William Mayo and Isabel Hardy; his maternal grandparents were James Johnston and Mary Johnson. He had a brother named Nathan. He was the older of the two children. Frederick was born on November 6th, 1774 in North Carolina Formed 1712 From Carolina, First settlement by Roger Green 1653. He died at the age of 81 on June 1st, 1856 in Madison County, Tennessee Formed 1821 From Chickasaw Indian Cession.. He was buried in Mayo Cemetery, Madison County, Tennessee.
