Martha Purefoy was born about 1678 in Amelia County, VA. Martha Purefoy's father was Richard Hand and her mother was Frances Purefoy. Her paternal grandparents were John Hand and Joan Simmons; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Purefoy and Lucy Ransom. She had a sister named Hannah. She was the younger of the two children. She died in 1739.-
