His paternal grandparents were King Philip Augustus II de France and Queen Isabel de Flanders; his maternal grandparents were Alfonso Sanchez VIII of Castile King and Eleanor Plantagenet Princess of England Princess. He had four brothers named Louis IX, Robert I Capet of, John Capet of and Alphonso Capet of. He was the youngest of the five children. He had four half-brothers named Robert I Capet of, John Capet of, Alphonso Capet of and Charles I Capet of. He died at the age of 59 in 1285.-
