His paternal grandparents were Emperor Charlemagne Hre and Hildegardeof Schwaben; his maternal grandfather was Ct. Ingeramun of Hasbaign. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Ludwig II of E Franks, Ludwig II of E Franks, Hildegardeof France and Hildegardeof France. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named The bald, Gisele of Hre and Gisele of Hre. He died at the age of 60 on September 29th, 0855 in Pruem, Rheinland, Preussen.
