Maud (Matilda) was born about 1192 in of Pembroke,Pembrokeshire,Wales and her baptism took place in September 1201.1   Maud (Matilda)'s father was William MARSHALL [Earl Of Pembrok and her mother was Isabel Fitzgilbert De Clare.  Her paternal grandparents were John Fitz Gilbert Marshal Earl of Salisbury and Sibyl De Salisbury; her maternal grandparents were Richard Strongbow Fitzgilbert de Clare Earl of Pembroke and Eva (Aoife) McMurrough. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named Richard , Earl of Pembroke, Gilbert , Earl of Pembroke, William II, Anselm , Earl of Pembroke, Walter, Isabel , Countess of Hertford, Margaret, Sibyl, Eve, Isabella, Joan and Sibyl.  She was the fourth oldest of the thirteen children.  She died on March 27th, 1248 in Framlingham,co. Norfolk,England.  She was buried in Tintern Abbey,Chapel Hill,Monmouthshire,England.1 1
