Gussie Alfred was born on November 5th, 1902 in San Gabriel, Milam Co., TX.1 Gussie Alfred's father was Nathan Alfred Wilson and his mother was Alice Pearl Spradley. His maternal grandparents were Augustave Davis Spradley and Hannah Minerva Maxwell. He had two brothers named Johnny Bradberry and Nathan Archie. He was the oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 63 on June 17th, 1966 in Corpus Christi, Nueces Co., TX. He was buried in Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.1 1 General Notes

Gus moved to Corpus Christi whee he spent most of his adult life. He was
the owner/barber of the favorite barber shop there when he died in a
local hospital. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the local
barber's union. His obituary appeared in the Corpus Christi Texas News
Paper on June 18, 1966.
