Timothy Sears and his parents. Timothy was born in NC ca1780, probably in
New Bern, Craven Co. I have been told that his father fought in the
Revolutionary War, and both his parents died young, but no one seems to
know their names. Timothy moved to GA, where he married Jane (Jennie)
White. They lived in Wilkinson Co., GA, for the rest of their lives.
Timothy died ca 1860, and Jennie 30 Jun 1857.
Ronald, I found your posting on Ancestry.com. I am descended from Timoth
Sears. We know from census records that he was born in NC ca 1780, but
none of the researchers I have dealt with has ever found further back
than that. All we've found is that his parents died when he was very
young and he was apprenticed out to a man who was very cruel to him.
(This is from another researcher; I have never found it written
anywhere). When he was still a teenager, he ran away and worked his way
to Wilkerson Co., GA, where he lived the rest of his life. I have also
been told that his father fought in the Revolution but didn't live long
enough to apply for a pension.
Many parts of this story fit very closely with your posting for Thomas
and Elizabeth Sears. May I ask where you got the information and the
listing of children? If this turns out to be the same Timothy, I can give
you a good bit of information on his descendants, if you want it. Much of
it is posted on the Hood County, TX USGenWeb site. The heading is
something like "Notable Citizens". Rev. Henry Jefferson Sears shown there
is Timothy's son and my great great grandfather.
I would appreciate any help you could give. This could be the first chink
in a very old brick wall!
I look forward to hearing from you.
