Marylena was born on January 3rd, 1913.1 Marylena's father was Walter Freeman Schad and her mother was Etta Mayo. Her maternal grandparents were William Kyser Mayo and Mary Margaret Satcher. She had four sisters named Agnes Julia, Emma Pauline, Mildred Louise and Dorothy Annette. She was the second oldest of the five children.-
