"Lawrence McEwen enlisted from Westmoreland County in the American Army during the War of 1812. There is no record in Washington D. C. In 1827 he came to Rayne Township, Indiana County where he engaged in farming and raising stock. He passed away there in 1830 and was buried in the Washington Church Cemetery. He was a Whig in his political views and a member of the old Washington Presbyterian Church."
