His last name was spelt McQuown. Some have said it should be McEwen.

"From the Pennsylvania Archives, May 17, 1775, Lancaster County (now
Dauphin County) had 3 officers: Capt. Jacob Cook, 1st Lieutenant William
Mayo, 2nd Lieutenant Robert McQuown with Ensign David McQuown. Officers
of the 3rd Battalion, Lawrence County were: Capt. David McQuown, 1st
Lieutenant Robert McQuown. On June 16, 1777, while at Church at Donegal,
Lancaster County an express arrived calling to muster the battalion and
march to the Delaware. David McQuown's company then marched for the
Delaware and were involved in the Battle of Brandywine.
In 1788 David moved with his wife Mary and son, Lawrence, to a grant of
land of some 220 acres in Derry Township, Westmoreland County,
Pennsylvania. Here he erected a sawmill and ws engaged in lumbering and
farming until his death in 1825. " (1)
