John Jacob was born in 1749 in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania.1 John Jacob's father was ANDREAS KRAMER and his mother was MARIA MAGDALENA (BERKEL) PURTLE. His paternal grandfather was MATHIAS KRAMER; his maternal grandparents were HANS JACOB BERKEL and ANNA BARBARA. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Ludwig, Andrew, Daniel, George, ADAM, Michael, Christian and Rosina. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
