William was born in 1093 in of Bradninch, Devonshire, England.  William's father was King Henry I Beauclerc of England and his mother was Lady Sybilla Corbet. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named Robert, William, Rainald, Gilbert, Sibyl Elizabeth, Gundred, Rohese, Matilda (Maud), Eustacie, Alice and Daughter. He had thirteen half-brothers and sixteen half-sisters, named William, Richard, Robert, Henry, Robert, Henry, Robert, Robert, Gilbert, Richard, Fulk, Richard, Herbert, Elizabeth, Matilda, Euphamia, Isabel, Isabel, Maud, Princess, Maud, Emma, Maud, Juliane, Constance, Juliane, Mathilde, Alix and Rohese.  He died at the age of 43 in 1136.

He had a biological son named William.
