Thomas' father was John de Verdon Lord Westmeath and his mother was Margery de Lacy Lady of Dulek. His paternal grandparents were Theobald le Boteler II and Rohesia de Verdon; his maternal grandparents were Gilbert de Lacy Lord Meath and Isabel le Bigod. He had three brothers and a sister, named Sir Nicholas, Theobald de Verdon, John and Agnes. He had a half-brother named Humphrey.General Notes
Thomas, of Staffordshire, returned as a man-at-arms, 17th Edward II [1321]; ancestor, it is believed, of Sir Thomas de Verdon, Knt., of Denston, co. Stafford, and of his brother, Sir John de Verdon, sheriff of Staffordshire, 34th Edward III [1261], who d. s. p., leaving his sister, Joan, wife of John de Whitmore, Lord of Whitmore, his heir. This Joan left two daus. and co-heirs, viz.: Joan, m. to Henry Clerk, of Ruyton, co. Salop; and Elizabeth, m. to James de Boghay, Lord of Whitmore.
