John De was born in August 1231 in Warren, Sussex, England. John De's father was [Earl Of Surrey] William De John (6Th Earl Of Warren & Surrey) [Earl Of Surrey]/Warren and his mother was [Countess] Maud Maud [Countess]/Marshal. His paternal grandparents were 5th Earl Of Surrey Hamelin Plantagenet 5th Earl Of Surrey and Heiress Of Surrey Isabel De Warenne Heiress Of Surrey; his maternal grandparents were 3rd Earl Of Pembroke William "The Protector" Marshall 3rd Earl Of Pembroke and [Countess Of Pembroke Isabel De Clare [Countess Of Pembroke. He had two sisters named Isabel De and Maud De. He had six half-brothers and a half-sister, named Ralph Le, Roger, John, Hugh, William Le, Simon Le and Isabel. He died at the age of 74 on September 27th, 1305 in Surrey, Kent, England. He was buried in Lewes Priory, Lewes, Sussex.General Notes
In 1278, John was questioned as to his title to the lands. He brought to court an ancient rusty sword saying,Here, my Lord, is my warrant. My ancestors coming with William the Bastard won their land with this sword, and with the sword I will hold them against all comers.'
