His paternal grandparents were Richard "de Tonbridge" "de Clare" FitzGilbert and Rohese ROHESE Giffard; his maternal grandparents were Hugh de Creil Seigneur de Creil & Hugh Mouchy and Marguerite de Roucy. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Hervey, Baldwin FitzGilbert, Gilbert "Strongbow", John (The Marshal), Rohesia, Adeliza Alice, Margaret and Rose. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 46 on April 15th, 1136 in Nearm Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, England.-
