John (The Marshal) was born in 1106 in Pembroke, Wales. John (The Marshal)'s father was Gilbert FitzRichard de Clare , 2nd Earl and his mother was Adelaid\Adeliza de Clermont. His paternal grandparents were Richard "de Tonbridge" "de Clare" FitzGilbert and Rohese ROHESE Giffard; his maternal grandparents were Hugh de Creil Seigneur de Creil & Hugh Mouchy and Marguerite de Roucy. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Hervey, Baldwin FitzGilbert, Ricahrd FitzGilbert, Gilbert "Strongbow", Rohesia, Adeliza Alice, Margaret and Rose. He was the second youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 59 in 1165.-
