Griffri Ap was born about 1073 in Of, Arwystli, Montgomeryshire, Wales.  Griffri Ap's father was Prince Of North Wales Trahaearn Ap Caradog Prince Of North Wales and his mother was Nesta Verch Gruffudd. He had six brothers named Llywarch Ap, Meurig Ap, Owain Ap, Ednowain Ap, Ieuan Ap and Madog Ap.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Hugh and Nesta Verch.  He died in 1106.
