Llywarch Ap was born about 1070 in Arwystli, Powys, Wales.  Llywarch Ap's father was Prince Of North Wales Trahaearn Ap Caradog Prince Of North Wales and his mother was Nesta Verch Gruffudd. He had six brothers named Meurig Ap, Owain Ap, Griffri Ap, Ednowain Ap, Ieuan Ap and Madog Ap.  He was the oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Hugh and Nesta Verch.  He died about 1129 in North Wales.
