Hugh de was born about 1225 in Bray, Maidenhead, Berkshire, England. Hugh de's father was Hugh de St. Philbert , of Bray. His paternal grandfather was Hugh de St. Philbert , of Bray. He was an only child. He died after 1272.General Notes
HUGH DE SAINT PHILIBERT, son and heir, whose age was stated as 24 in 1249, did homage in 1249-50. In 1258 he fined for not having crossed with the King to Gascony, and in June 1259 was bailed out of Northampton prison, where he lay charged with the death of one Richard Aumfrey. He sided with the Barons in 1264, his lands being granted to John de Haversham. It is not certain whether they had been restored in 1272, when he was still living. A word about the name "St. Philbert". I find numerous references to the name "St. Philibert" and "St. Philbert". As far as I can determine they are two different spellings for the same family. I find the same people spelled with either spelling. Even the original saint (died 684) that the family is presumed to be named after, I find spelled both ways.
