Isabel of was born about 1165 in Huntingdon, Huntingdonshire, England.  Isabel of's father was William The Lion King of Scotland and her mother was Isabel Avenal.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Earl of Huntingdon , Prince of Scotland and Ada de Warenne; her maternal grandparents were Richard Avenal and Sibyl. She had two sisters named Ada de and Miss de.  She was the youngest of the three children. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Alexander II King of, Margaret Princess of, Isabella Princess of and Margaret of.
