Richard I was born on September 13th, 1157 in Beaumont Palace, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.  Richard I's father was King Henry II Plantagenet of England and his mother was Queen Eleanore Princess of Aquitaine.  His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V Plantagenet [COUNT OF ANJOU] and Empress of England Matilda; his maternal grandparents were Guillaume X Duke Aquitaine and Duchess Eleanor de Chatellerault. He had eight brothers and seven sisters, named William, William Prince of, Henry Prince of, Geoffrey Prince of, Geoffrey, Philip Prince of, John "Lackland", Henry, Matilda, Matilda Princess of, Eleanor, Eleanor of, Eleanor, Joanna Princess of and Joan. He had seven half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Richard I "Coeur, John "Lackland" King, William, William of Salisbury, Peter Arch Deacon, Morgan Provost of, Geoffrey, Joanna Princess of, Marie of, Marie Princess of, Alix Princess of and Margaret Of.  He died at the age of 41 on April 6th, 1199 in Chalus, Haute-Vienne, France.  He was buried in Fontevrault l'Ab, Maine-et-Loire, France.
