Gruffudd Ap was born about 1071 in Dynevor Castle, Llandilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales.  Gruffudd Ap's father was King Of Deheubarth Rhys Ap Rhys Ap Tudor King Of Deheubarth/Tewdwr and his mother was Gwladus Verch Rhiwallon. He had two sisters named Nesta Verch and Margred Verch.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had three half-brothers named Hywel Ap, Llewelyn Ddiriaid Ap and William Fitz Walter.  He died after 1137.
