Osbern Gyffarde was born in 0977 in Longueville, Normandy, France. Osbern Gyffarde's father was Osbern Geoffrey De Bolbec and his mother was Avelina De Crepon De Arques. His maternal grandparents were King of Denmark Herbastus Gorrmsson Harald , King of Denmark/Harald and Gunhild Olafsdatter. He had a brother and two sisters, named Walter, Josceline and Beatrice. He was the youngest of the four children. He had five half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Humphrey, Hebrand, Gilbert, Richard, Ilbert, Touroude De Pont and Josceline. He died before 1096 in France.General Notes
Fought with Duke William in the conquest of England and was awarded vast grants of lands in Gloucester. He hel manors in Brimesfield, Rochemtern, Alderberie, and Stoche. He settled in Brimsfield and built a large castle there that was the family home untul destroyed by Edward II in 1322.
