Harald "Slettmali" 26th Jarl of was born about 1099 in Orkney Islands, Scotland. Harald "Slettmali" 26th Jarl of's father was Hakon "Imperious" Paulson 23rd Jarl of Orkney and his mother was Helga of Caithness. His paternal grandparents were Paul Thorfinnsson 20th Jarl of Paul , Jarl of Orkney/Orkney and Ragnhild Hakonsdottir; his maternal grandfather was Moddan of Caithness , of Dalr. He had three sisters named Agatha, Ingibiorg Hakonsdottir of and Margaret Hakonsdottir of. He was the second youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother named Paul II "Silent" Hakonsson 25th Jarl of. He died in December 1131.General Notes

Harald I Slettmali, Jarl of half Orkney and (apparently) Earl of all Caithness (? 1126). He welcomed Sigurd Slembidiakn (afterwards King of Norway 1136-1139), and with him prepared to attack Jarl Paul in Orkney; but peace was arranged. Harald had a house in Orphir in Mainland, near Kirkwall, where Jarl Paul, HaroldÃs mother Helga and his aunt Frakok gathered for Yule 1131, and there Harald died. He left one son Erlend, afterwards Earl of half Caithness and later of half Orkney. [Complete Peerage, X:Appendix A:19]
