Slani was born about 0980 in Kincora, Munster, Ireland. Slani's father was Brian Borum Na Munster , King of Ireland and her mother was Eachraidh Ui Aeda Odba. Her paternal grandparents were Cineadh Na Munster and Be Bind O'Flaherty; her maternal grandfather was Charllus Ui Aeda Odba. She had a brother named Tadhg (Teige). She was the younger of the two children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Donnchad Ua, Tadg Mac Gillapatrick Na and Aife Na.
