Isabella de was born in 1248 in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.  Isabella de's father was Roger de Mortimer , 6th Lord of Wigmore and her mother was Maud de Braose.  Her paternal grandparents were Ralph de Mortimer , 2nd Lord of Wigmore and Gwladys "Ddu" verch Llewelyn , Princess of Wales; her maternal grandparents were William 6th Baron de Braose , Lord Abergavenny and Eva Marshal. She had two brothers and a sister, named William de, Edmund 1st Baron de and Margaret de.  She was the oldest of the four children.  She died after 1300.

‌Isabella de and John were married in a religious ceremony in 1260.  They had a son and a daughter, named Richard I and Maud.
