Boniface I de was born about 1150 in Montferrat, Italy. Boniface I de's father was William V Margrave of Montferrat and his mother was Judith von Babenberg of Austria. His paternal grandmother was Gisela of Burgundy. He had a brother and two sisters, named Conrad Marquis de, Beatrix de and Alice de. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died on September 4th, 1207.
