William was born in May 1198 in Of, Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales. William's father was William MARSHALL 4th Earl of PEMBROKE and his mother was Isabel de CLARE COUNTESS OF PEMBROOK. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Walter, Richard, Gilbert, Anselm, Margaret, Maud, Joan, Isabel, Sibyl and Eve. He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 32 on April 11th, 1231 in Sp. He was buried on April 15th, 1231 in Temple Church, London, Middlesex, England.
