Giselbert I Count of Salm Longwy & was born about 1005 in Luxemburg.  Giselbert I Count of Salm Longwy &'s father was Frederick I Count of Salm & Luxembourg and his mother was Irmentrude of Gleiberg.  His paternal grandparents were Siegfried Count of Luxembourg and Hedwig of Nordgau; his maternal grandparents were Herbert I Count of Gleiberg and Irmentrude of Avalgau. He had a brother and three sisters, named Frederick II Count of, Irmtrud Judith Countess of, Ogive of and Gisele of.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died on August 14th, 1059.
