Robert de was born about 1272 in Little Lumley, Chester le Street, Durham, England. Robert de's father was Roger de Lumley , Sir Knight and his mother was Sybil de Morwick , Heiress of West Chevington. His paternal grandparents were William de Lumley , Sir and Miss de Audre; his maternal grandparents were Hugh IV de Morwick , Sir and Agnes de Heyford. He was an only child. Sir Robert de Lumley; born c1272; knighted by 1306; married Mary, daughter of John FitzMarmaduke by Isabel (daughter of Robert de Bruce, seemingly identical with Robert I (The Bruce) King of Scots), and died by 13 July 1308. [Burke's Peerage]
Note: I don't know what Burke's is thinking of, with its reference to Robert The Bruce. With the dates involved, Isabel's father Robert is grandfather of Robert I of Scotland.

ROBERT DE LUMLEY, knight, son and heir, was aged 26 and more at his mother's death, and had livery of her inheritance 19 October following. In 1306, as Sir Robert de Lumley, knight, he gave land in Harleston, Northants, to his brother Roger.
He married Mary, daughter of John FITZ-MARMADUKE, of Stranton, by Isabel, daughter of Robert DE BRUCE, which Mary after her husband's death, became heir to her brother, Ricbard FitzMarmaduke.
