Robert de was born about 1131 in Diss, Norfolk, England. Robert de's father was Richard "The Loyal" de Lucy , Justiciar-England and his mother was Rohese FitzRichard de Clare. His paternal grandparents were Adrian de Lucy and Aveline Goth; his maternal grandfather was Richard FitzRichard de Clare , Abbot of Ely. He had two brothers and three sisters, named William de, Geoffrey de, Aveline de, Maud de and Alice de. He was the youngest of the six children.General Notes
Some people have Robert as son of Adrian, but they have him born much earlier. I would place him as a younger son of Richard who was son of Adrian. Since Richard held Diss, Norfolk (as well as Dunmow and other lands in Essex), this fits with Robert his son being "of Norfolk".
