Agathe de was born in 1119 in of Nancy, France. Agathe de's father was Simon I Duke de Lorraine and her mother was Adelheid de Louvain. Her paternal grandparents were Thierry I Duke of Alsace Lorraine and Hedwig Von Formbach; her maternal grandfather was Gebhard Count of Supplinburg. She had a brother named Matthieu I Duke of. She was the younger of the two children. She died after 1147.
