His paternal grandparents were Viscount Ranulph II DE BRIQUISART DE MESCHINE BAYEUX and Maud D'AVRANCHES; his maternal grandparents were Earl of Liecestershire Thorold Sheriff Of Lincoln OF BUCKNALL and Beatrice MALET. He had a brother and a sister, named Ranulph Of Chester and Alice. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Ethelred Of Kendal, Matilda and Beatrice.
