Arran of the was born about 1160 in Isle of Man, British Crown dependancy.  Arran of the's father was Somerled King of the Isles , King of Argyll and his mother was Raginhild Olafsdottir of Man. He had three brothers and a sister, named Rognvald, Dubhgall Dougall Mac Somerled King of, Angus Lord of Arran & and Agnes d'.  He was the youngest of the five children.
