Richard was born in 1412 in Of Coldbrook, Abergavenny, England and his baptism took place in {Godwin}.  Richard's mother was Gwladus Verch DAFYDD"gam". He had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Thomas, Margred and Elizabeth.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 57 in 1469 in Banbury, Northamptonshire, England.  He was buried in Priory Church, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, England.
