Matilda was born in 1127 in Brimsfield, Gloucestershire, England. Matilda's father was Elias II Giffard Lord Of Brimsfield and her mother was Berta (Bertha) Clifford. Her paternal grandparents were Elias I Giffard Lord Of Brimsfield and Ala; her maternal grandparents were Richard Fitzpons Lord Of Cantref Bychan and Maud Fitzwalter De Pitres Of Gloucester. She had five brothers and a sister, named Walter, Gilbert, Richard, Elias III Helias, William and Berta. She was the oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 100 on June 12th, 1227.-
