John was born about 1267 in Twyford, Buckinghamshire, England. John's father was John 1st Baron Giffard , Sir Knight and his mother was Maud de Clifford. His paternal grandparents were Osbert Giffard and Isabel de Bokland; his maternal grandparents were Walter III de Clifford and Margaret verch Llewelyn. He had two sisters named Eleanor and Catherine. He was the oldest of the three children. He died on March 30th, 1328.General Notes
