Hugh de was born in 1194 in Boyton, Warminster, Wiltshire, England. Hugh de's father was Walter Giffard , Lord of Boyton. His paternal grandparents were Elias III Giffard , Lord of Brimpsfield and Maud de Berkeley. He was an only child. He died at the age of 62 in 1256.-
