Osbern was born about 1032 in Normandy, France.  Osbern's father was Osborne De Crepon [Steward Of Normandy] and his mother was Emma De Ivry. He had a brother and two sisters, named William Fitzosbern De, Emma and Weva.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
