Alan was born in 1126 in Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Alan's father was Walter FitzAlan High Steward of Scotland and his mother was Eschyna De Londoniis. His paternal grandparents were Baron of Oswestry Alan FitzFlaad Baron of Oswestry and Heiress of Shropshire Adeliza De Hesding Heiress of Shropshire. He had a brother and a sister, named Alan and Marjory. He was the oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 78 in 1204 in Scotland.-
