Eleanor was born about 1252 in Blaen Llyfni, Brecknockshire, Wales. Eleanor's father was Reginald FitzPiers , Lord of Blaen Llyfni and her mother was Alice de Stanford. Her paternal grandparents were Piers (Peter) FitzHerbert , Lord of Bladen and Alice FitzRobert de Warkworth; her maternal grandfather was William de Stanford , Lord of Stanford Dingley. She had a brother and a sister, named Reginald and Alice. She was the second oldest of the three children. She had a half-brother named Peter.General Notes
