Agatha de was born in 1168 in Ferrers, Derbyshire, England. Agatha de's father was William I de Ferrers , 3rd Earl of Derby and her mother was Sybil de Braose. Her paternal grandparents were Robert de Ferrers , 2nd Earl of Derby and Margaret Peverel; her maternal grandparents were William II de Braose , 1st Baron of Abergavenny and Bertha de Gloucester , Heiress of Brecon. She had a brother and two sisters, named William II de, Millicent de and Pernell (Petronella) de. She was the oldest of the four children.-
