Gilbert II's father was Comte De Brionne Gilbert Crispin Comte De Brionne and his mother was Gunnora D'Aunou.  His paternal grandparents were Crispin De Bec and Haloise De Guines; his maternal grandparents were Fulk D'Aunou and Beatrice Le Goz. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Baldwin Fitz-Gilbert, Richard FitzGilbert Earl, Hesilia (Esilia) and Emma. He had two half-brothers named Baldwin and Osbern.
