Basilia was born about 1158.  Basilia's father was Earl Of Pembroke Richard "Strongbow" Fitzgilbert De Clare Earl Of Pembroke and her mother was Eva (Aoife) McMurrough.  Her paternal grandparents were Earl of Pembroke Gilbert FitzGilbert De Clare Earl of Pembroke and Isabel Elizabeth De Beaumont; her maternal grandparents were Dermot MacMurrough King of Leinster and Mor Ingen Muirchertaig O'Toole. She had two sisters named Isabel Fitzgilbert and Joan.  She was the oldest of the three children.  She died about 1203.

‌Basilia and Robert were married in a religious ceremony in 1172 in Ferns, County Leinster, Ireland.  They had a daughter named Maud.
