Count Enguerrand II DE PONTHIEU 
Enguerrand II was born in 1033. Enguerrand II's father was Hugh II PONTHIEU and his mother was Countess Bertha Of Pontieu D'AUMALE. His paternal grandparents were Count Enguerrand I OF PONTHIEU & MONTREUIL and Aleida DE GAND OF HOLLAND; his maternal grandfather was Guerinfry OF AUMALE. He had two brothers named Enguerrand III and Guy I. He was the second oldest of the three children.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
